Bubble Boy

Last year I took a trip to Arizona to visit my niece and nephew. I wanted some photos, but I also wanted them to be candid shots, so instead of asking him to pose, I got the idea of giving him bubbles to play with. After a few minutes, he completely forgot about me (exactly what I wanted), and this is what I ended up with.
I normally don't photograph people, but family is different. Candid shots work the best for me and I love capturing kids being kids - because they are fun to watch.
He is so focused on blowing the bubble that he has forgotten I'm there. The bubble ended up being so large that I couldn't fit him and the entire bubble in one photo.
It was my first experience/experiment trying something that made me happy - and my subject happy. Now when I make the trip to Arizona, I scan stores for simple toys that they will enjoy - toys more interesting than me or my camera. |
