[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
These hurdlers made great subjects. The shot was taken while panning to give the background a motion blur while keeping some aspects of the runners sharp. I was talking to some of the professional photographers at this event and was surprised that they were shooting at 1/1000 sec to freeze all the action. My goal is to feel the motions and speed that is accomplished by using a slower shutter speed.

To make the subjects pop out of the picture the background layer was duplicated (creating layer 1). This layer was blurred using some Gaussean Blur. A layer mask was then used to paint the subjects from the background layer, making them sharp.

Finally the shot was cropped to give the correct perspective.

Classic track and field image. Properly panned, well presented and you captured the moment very well. Great clarity on the runners.

I'm a former track competitor myself though I was a middle distance runner. I, of course, competed for a better school - The University of Arizona in Tucson. LOL!!!!

Nice series of track photographs.

Excellent action shot.
Excellent sharpness and details.
