[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This young man was with his mother and sister at the horse races last Sunday. I liked his features and asked his mother and him if I could take a picture. I emailed it that night and got a response positive response.

Dark skin makes for great tones in a black and white shot. In converting the picture in the Channel Mixer, the more Blue channel you use the richer the tones get. In this case the Blue and Green Channels were increased and the Red Channel decreased.

The Shadows and Highlights controls were very important here. They change the lighting from harsh to almost studio quality.

Finally the shot is sharpened in spots to bring out the texture of the hair and sharpness of the eyes.
