I jammed on my brakes when I saw this scene Thursday on my ride home from Mammoth. I remember something about the "rule of thirds" and maybe this image qualifies.
The three zones of the Owens Valley can be seen here. The Cottonwoods follow the little creeks on the valley floor, the old volcanic rock makes one row of foothills and then the massive Sierra Nevada headed up to 4300m.
Spring is still quite a few weeks away in the High Sierra but these Cottonwoods in the Owens Valley should start turning green soon. They live at 2000m and put on quite a show in the fall. |

A beautiful picture David whether it fits the rule of thirds I'm not sure but even if it doesn't your composition is excellent. Detail in the foreground right into the background and what detail an absolutely stunning scene brilliantly captured. Well done.

paysage somptueux!!
is verygood!!
bye....tanbinh.
Very beautiful clouds, nice scene. I hae been to Mammoth many times. I used to camp there, mostly near Devil's postpile.
Well done. The shot is well composed and the lighting is good. But I think it's a bit hard to see the lighting because the shot is a bit dark.
