[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I have a few more postable images from Bishop Creek Canyon to share. This one is an HDR of the golden light of sunrise at North Lake.
In a perfect world there would be clouds in the sky to add interest, but as you can see it was a clear morning. Of course there is always dragging clouds in from another image, but then the image would be contrived. The HDR process is enough "adjustment".
I have to keep up with Linda who is becoming an expert with this HDR process.

PP: Three images shot at EV -1, 0, and +2 blended together with CS3's HDR processor plus the usual sharpening, sizing and framing.

Delicious gold and amber color palette with darker earthy contrasts for a stunning image. I like how the light it glowing on the tops of the hills and how the surface of the water compliments the other textural details in the scene. Nicely balanced composition. Excellent!

hi dan, beautiful scene, neat colors, composed like an expert! do you think the hdr is the way to go or using n/grad filters? i personally feel the n/grad filters keep it more like the eye sees but whats your opinion?
tfs,
scott

Hi Dan,
WOW!! Beautiful lighting and colours in this stunning landscape. Fantastic sun-glow on the mountain tops. Nicely balanced composition with perfect POV. Outstanding!!

My compliments,
Thomas

I really like this one Daniel - it's HDR delivered with restraint. Sometimes HDR shots deliver a bland, too-evenly-exposed result, but this still has a beautiful dynamic of light and shadow, colour and perspective.
Well done!

Hi Dad

I've looked through all of my photos from North Lake and it looks to me that we both shared the same problem. The sunlit portions of the mountains are really hot. On my shots the lighting is so hot that I'd say 99% of my images aren't recoverable. Your HDR looks better than mine, but on this monitor the sunlit portions still look a tad overexposed. I think clouds on this day would have served us better. That being said, I find the composition to be a good one. The image itself reminds me of an excellent weekend.

Hello Daniel
Wonderful landscape with great vivid colours and light control; the shadow covering the mountains is very well seen and capted.
Best regards, mb

Hi Daniel
I am not sure about the effectivity of HDR technique in most of the shots I've ever seen. Because HDR turn a picture to a painting. But this is a nice shot. TFS.

Beautiful HDR, Dan. I agree with you, an image with "imported" clouds is a bit counterfeited. But you should remove the dust from your sensor. I had the same issue and activating the sensor shake of the D300 solved it.

Tibi
