[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Friday morning I was lucky enough to visit one of my favorite spots on the globe - - - Zabriskie Point overlooking Death Valley. Once the ocean bottom, these mud and silt hills are amazing. They call these formations "Badlands." I think probably because nothing grows there. For me they are Good Lands fresh for exploration. The colored stuff is called the Furnace Creek formation. Death Valley itself is at the bottom of the canyons. In the distant are the formidable Panamint Mountains.

Layers, textures and lines. A little "S" curve thrown in and voila....a nice shot.

Lovely colours textures and presentation of the rugged landscape. The background seems to contrast well in tones. My minor nitpick would be with the white line that is seen close to the top left. Probably could have been cloned out. But all in all excellent work! TFS

Beautiful picture of Zabriskie Point, David. I was there in August (not the best of the year I know as the temperature was around 110 degree) but what a place that is. You have been able to capture the beautiful layers of colours and it is nicely composed focusing on the mountains with a peak at the salt bed in the background. Well done!

Unfortunately, I have already run out of goodies for the day!

Hi David,
Thank you for your educational photo. I also like your classic composition - gives much depth to the photo. Splendid shot!

Amazing play of tonal values on this photograph! The shadows and the changing of colors of the mountains are beautiful. Very well seen David.
