[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Cataract Falls Trail is another one of my favorite hikes in Marin County, California. After a few weeks of rain this trail (although a bit strenous) is completely magical to me. I'm a sucker for cascading, frothing water meandering its way through rocks, fallen trees, and like and this trail gives me all of that and more.
This is shot from just off the main trail. Here the water flow isn't as visible as in other places, but the bridge in the back to me adds a nice touch.

I used a polarizing filter to allow for a longer shutter speed and to dim the reflection on the surrounding water.

Hi Mike,
What a beautiful forrest and what a stunning stream. Those huge bolders covered in moss look awesome. Great work on the exposure and sharpness. Personally I would have opted for a more vertical composition where the water is running toward you. This creates more depth into the composition. But, this is also a very pleasant view.

Wonderfull shot with a stunnng effect in the strean.

the wide angle is a little disturbing to me - perhaps the shot could be warped a little to remove the distortion. colour and shot density is excellent and the use of the slow shutter fantastic... this shot is almost ethereal...stunning! and thanks for the informative note!

Nice color, but more importantly great POV. I stayed on the trail when I hiked through this area so I didn't notice this POV. Anyway, the DOF is also perfect. Great job.
