[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Switching gears today, and returning to some shots taken recently at an open garden event. This place was really more of a courtyard than a garden, but the "decor" was done by a professional and well worth showing off:)

I have been trying to learn how to do a good "Orton effect"...so this is one of my practice results.

PP: standard RAW adjustments, gaussian blur layer, raised saturation, blending mode darken, resized, added border.

Follow-up note: I posted the untouched original in a workshop for comparison. Seems I may have overdone the saturation eh? Must have been in one of those "extreme" moods again:) Feel free to say what you really think...hehe.

Critiques [Translate]

Hi Karen
At first blush I had a major problem with the image, but I read you notes and had to scratch my head on the Orton effect. Tried my CS3 bible with out any luck. Googled Orton and now I understand what you are doing here and can now critique. As I understand the process, with out trying it, you focus is perfect - soft as it should be. I don't know if the colors are true. I think if you include a WS of the original it would be helpful.
Like to see a couple more images with this process.
Here is the website I located if it is any help: http://pcin.net/update/2006/11/01/the-orton-effect-digital-photography-tip-of-the-week/
