This one is another of my hard-to-explain shots. I was hiking along a stream that wandered through a wooded valley. Every now and then I would find evidence of other humans having been there, usually in the form of some ugly litter left behind. Then I spotted a puzzling sight...this huge pile of curly wood shavings. The pile was about three feet in diameter and one foot deep. It was all neatly collected in this one location. There was no sign of logging or other wood workings anywhere near. Strange. Perhaps some interior decorating preparations for a family of beavers? ;)

Whatever they are, or wherever they came from, they are a nice subject for a close-up! Your frame is PERFECT for enhancing the colors of the image.

Excellent, Karen!

nice forms and textures! intresting and simple image. tfs

Hmm interesting, the shavings were probably from a woodworker. These shavings are from a plane depending on the width of the shavings it can be from a block plane or a bench plane or even an electric plane. The woodworker was probably trying to bring down the thickness of his piece or maybe he was going all out testing a new plane.

I did a workshop for you I was finding the image a little light and in need of a bit of contrast. Hope you don't mind.

Merci

P.S I'll be back demain with your greenie, fresh out today.

I'm back with a greenie : )

Bonsoir.
Image étrange mais belle.
Alors bravo !

I like the colour and the texture and shape here. The light is fine. creative capture.

You would think that wood shavings would not make an interesting photograph, but indeed they do. The nice tone of the colours is good and the patterns of the curly shavings adds interest. I might have square cropped it and given it a heavy black frame for more punch. Don't know what it would look like but that is how I see it. Maybe I will do a workshop.
Cheers Joan

Nice picture of an unusual subject, Karen. I love wood and I can almost feel the smell of these shavings.
As technogran, I think this shot needs some sharpening and more contrast. Her workshop reflects my thought.
Thanks for the little story in your note.
