The fun continues in the school bus yard! I noticed along one side of the service yard about eight buses lined up in a row and set up with the intention of capturing the repeating elements when I noticed the mirrors mounted in front of the hood of each vehicle. These mirrors, one on the right side and another on the left give the driver the opportunity to look at the front bumper to make certain no children are lurking there. Suddenly, the mirrors became the object of my attention, leading ultimately to the image I post today, which I call CYCLOPS. Perhaps you recall the character from Greek mythology that had only one eye in the middle of his forehead.
Production is Photoshop consisted of the following steps...
1) Adjusted levels, increased contrast, applied USM and cropped.
2) Copied image to second layer and erased everything but the mirror and the black arm supporting it.
3) Inserted a layer between the background and the mirror image.
4) Applied the filter called "Difference Clouds" and then adjusted hue until I found a color I like.
5) Reduced opacity on the "Clouds" until it left enough of the background image to convey the setting in which the mirror is found.
The technique is essentially the same as I did on the School Is Out image I posted yesterday. I'm interested in maintaining the integrity of the image, but enjoy playing with colors and textures. Hope you enjoy the process and the result. |

Great capture and nice chosen coloured background ! The mirror is fantastic sharp.
Nice experimental picture, Curtis !!
What fun! I like how the whole space is taken by the mirror. The shift in colors & recognizing background objects feels like my eyes were dancing taking in this image.
Original theme and awesome notes.
