[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I am not ready to let this man go. By cropping the image there is even more emphasis on his eyes and character lines. The far side of the face was sharpened slightly, the highlights on the left side of the image were muted and the exposure was made slightly darker.

Hello Roger,
You're 100 % right: the crop puts even more emphasis on the already characterful face of your model.
I particularly like the light managment here. The light is subtle, revealing not only the different textures of his skin and his hair, but also making this hair cast nice shadows on the skin, adding additional lines.
An artistic portrait of a man who himself looks a bit like an artist.
TFS & kind regards,
Erik

Hi Roger
I noticed yesterday's impressive posting but didn't take time to comment. Can't pass up this one. The crop is impressive jyst as you say - add to the man's inner sole through his eyes. Great capture.

J'aime beaucoup ce portrait de vieil homme.
Le choix du cadrage serré et du noir & blanc donne un côté authentique au cliché :)

Excellent snapshot. Excellent way to catch a face. Well done.
Best wishes,
Achim

I LOVED this pic. I like so much the old people and the child expression, it's always lovely.

hi Roger

I like this version of tight crop, very nicely taken portrait with good light. The MkII and 85mm f/1.2 is a nice combination for this work. Incredible detail and sharpness under this light condition even at 1/1600s.

Roger,

Well cropped. Great that you kept detail on his left eye.
Have you considered cropping some of the hair on the left. This would accentuate his face and eyes even more.

Regards

Dennis

Hello Roger,
I think I can understand you. This face has a complete life writen, and his look emanates all the knowledge of the world. As you've said in the note to the previous version, can be a cientist, an artist... one thing is sure we feel life is watching us through that look.
A superb postrait my friend.
Congrats, mb
