Hi Bob

Probably motion blur, from too low a shutter speed. Try 1/500th second or even 1/1000th sec. A superb result here though, with impeccable sharpness & a good decisive moment. Tfs!

hi Bob

Hi Bob...great shot...you can never expect many to turn out this well..nice work.

Roger

This is a good shot indeed Bob, crisp with good capture of the tumbling waves and great timing of the surfer's movements.

I think the composition could be a little better - if he was more to the right, giving more "lead room" (i.e. more space for his progress across the frame) it would work better. The eye tends to anticipate where the subject is going, and what challenges await him.

I don't know how much you had to crop this, but I do think you could afford a higher ISO and a smaller aperture, maybe fixing your shutter at 1/500s. That would give you more consistent sharpness and take away some of the focal issues you hint at.

Good dramatic shot anyway, I look forward to seeing more.

Hi, Bob, amazing photo, good captured action,...

Great action shot Bob, excellent timing.
I agree the placement of the subject may work better if it was slightly more off center though.
Great natural color and detail.
Well done.

Great shot, Bob, sharp, clear and WET! Nice pov, I thought. What might have improved it was his face but we get what we can when we can. TFS
