This is another shot from the the tour of the Redwood Hills Creamery and goat farm that I've been posting images of this week. I rarely take people pictures, but this little scene was irresistable. The little girl was so enamored with the baby goat that she wanted to make friends with it. The only "prop" she could find was a piece of straw. She offered it lovingly to the kid that had hopped up on top of a stump for a better vantage point.

I experimented with a softening layer, then erased and highlighted the focal area. Not perfect, but worth a try:)

PP: standard RAW adjustments, cropped left side to remove most of another child in the background, added a gaussian blur layer in darkened blending mode, erased blur over the focal area, added soft omni light over focal area, resized, added border.

BTW, there were several other people taking photos and the parents were aware that this little girl was "starring" in them. She doesn't live at the goat farm, so I don't think she can be tracked down from her appearance here:)

Magical effect here Karen. I think your processing was very successful!
The photo looks really previous to begin woth but the softening makes it very dream like, like a childhood memory.
Well done!
