We have a Butterfly Pavillion not far away and my wife Kitty and I spent the morning there yesterday
taking pictures. It's not a big place, but it's built like a tropical rain forest with gorgeous flowers and foliage...and a misting system that popped on every 20 minutes or so forcing us to hide the cameras.
It was much more difficult than I imagined, getting the little fellows to hold still and open their wings. We had a great day though and this was one of my captures. Next time I'll take a shorter lens and try to catch the Blue Morpho's. They're spectacular but stay on the move and rarely open their wings when they do touch down.
I also bought a butterfly book and will try to find out this guy's proper name. I suspect he plays in an orchestra though, judging solely by the long hair and formal attire 8^) |
