| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The Greeks called her Selene the Moon Goddess, sister of Helios the Sun. In Latin Selene means serenity and calm. Amateur Astronomers tend to either love her or hate her.
While she's the most observed and photographed object in the night sky, the reflected sunlight ruins dark adaptation and washes out many of the dimmer sky treats. There's even a "Nuke the Moon Society" but I stopped sending in my dues.
This shot was taken last friday night through an 80mm Megrez Refractor attached to an alt/az goto mount. 1/1000 of a second but I still burned her a tad. Cropped, contrast +10, brightness -20, slight sharpening with Neat Image. |

Ahhh Phrank you didn't! You couldn't! I thought you were a member in good standing in the nuke the moon society! Nice contrast good shot. You and Meg done well. Better then i could do with the Celestron 114GT that needs some collimation!
TFS!
Wonderful Frank! You captured all the lunar landscape features very well in this image. Focus and exposure are just right! Let's see more my friend!
