The Animas River, on the outskirts of the town of Durango, in Colorado. People are walking their dogs on the opposite bank.

"Spanish explorers named the river "El Rio de las Animas Perdidas", or "The River of Lost Souls", in 1776 after several explorers traveled on the river and were lost. Their bodies were never found and the others believed that the souls of the lost men would therefore be relegated to Purgatory. From this legend was also born the original name of our ski area, Purgatory Resort, which opened in 1965. The resort has since been renamed "Durango Mountain Resort". Don't let the names fool you, both the river and the mountain are family friendly."

Hi Chris,
Beautiful scenery captured from a good POV to create a superb DOF!
Nice color saturation with sparkle lighting and sharp focusing.
Very nice composition with a nice bend of the river at the BG,
The sky is not a happy achievement it tends to be a little over exposed.
Anyhow a pleasing presentation.
Best regards,

Francis Xavier

Again, like the last shot I just critiqued it's a pity the skies are so leaden but as I pointed out you can't win 'em all! Nice POV, sharp (scan's good quality) and I like the bright spot of colour in the river.

Hi Chris,
Nice presentation of the Animas River of the town of Durango in Colorado, beautiful place and well composed picture , good colors and shrarpness.
Excellent note of the sujet..
well done.
Michel bonne journée.

Hello Chris,

I just feel I have heard of the town of Durango in connection with western films! It looks like cowboy country!
I like how you have anchored the f/g bank by the inclusion of the bush. The river is a great central attraction with its rippling eddies and its attractive colour and makes a gentle, curved lead towards the sloping hills.
Good to include the people for interest and scale.

Have a good day,
Bev :-)
p.s. Have you had trouble logging on today?
I'm not sure if it's my computer or the site! The photoghraphs just refused to come up!

Hi Chris
Very nice shot from "El Durango" and historic river in past of America
Great picture
Thanks
Bratislav

Hi Chris,

Nice POV along the river with perfect DOF. I like the contrast of the water's color with the golden/yellow of the river bank.

Best regards,
Werner

Ciao Chris

And you did again!
It is interesting to see how the light is
seeping through the carpet
green on the mountain, resulting in muted but
attractive color in the landscape!
I love this color of the water of the river, so clean!
It is a pleasant composition, which captures the atmosphere very well ...

Greetings,

Sergio

Hi Chris,

Hi Chris,
Lovely scene, very good composition. May be a bit of colour adjustment would have helped to reduce the very slight greenish tint on the image?

Hi Chris,

The curve of the river is an asset to the composition. It is leading our eyes toward the mountains which is giving depth to the photo. Even if the sky is cloudy the light is enhancing the colors of the scenery. Have a nice day.
