It is balloon season again in Albuquerque, New Mexico.Albuquerque is the balloon capital of the world. In September, 800 balloons fly for a 10 day festival. Darth Vadar from France came last year and was very popular.

Across the road from where I live is a landing site, bounded on one side by a busy road and the other by trees and the Rio Grande. The balloons have to come in very low in order to avoid the these obstacles. As a result, they sometimes barely skim over the houses.

Flying is done very early in the morning to catch the favourable winds. These boys get up early! From inside the house, one can hear the whoosh of the gases being released overhead. That is my signal to get up and take some shots.

Hello Joni.
Very nice and colourful picture you shows here.
Thanks for the info too.
Regards from Jan

Hi Joni,
Fantastic colours! The contrast between the house, sky and the baloon is excellent. Good job!

Kristof

Hi Joni
Lovely composition with good strong colours, you could have got away with slightly more saturation but it's a lovely shot anyway
Regards

Hello Joni
I would be much interested by a balloon flight to fell free as a bird....but above the open country!!
Vivid colors against the blue sky.
A stunning and unusual juxtaposition to the roof top!
The larger one is low enough for a within-earshot invitation to take a coffee!!
Cheers.
Robert

Hello Joni

Beautiful shot and great capture!
I like these colored balloons.
for here we don't have of these beauties, just
some paper balloons with fire in your mouth,
that it goes up a part and later he catches fire.
They are more for rural parties.
Visual and big beautiful compo!
Congratulations !

Hello Joni.
Beautiful perspective in colorful image of the balloon. I like the balance of the composition with the view of the subject on the ground. I like it and very well done. Best regards. Jusni

Ever since I took a ride in a balloon, I can't resist looking at balloon shots, Joni. These are very colourful ones, and that contrasts nicely with the beautiful blue sky and the pastel hues of the house.
Nice work, it's just a little pity that the basket is not entirely visible - but that's a very minor detail.
