Another from my archives:) This was taken at a Bed & Breakfast Inn where we stayed while on a trip to Taos, New Mexico. I loved the artsy character of this town, and also the interesting scenery in the area. We saw the simple mission church that served as a painting subject for Georgia O'Keefe, and went to a pueblo site that is still in use today. The art galleries are always a favorite, of course.

PP: scanned from original 35mm shot, resized, framed.

Hello Karen

One thing interesting about this picture is that when you scroll the picture up and down with the elevator on the right of your screen, the stairs are moving around the main column.
I like the richness of the wood and the texture of the walls.
TFS

Beautiful pastel colors! Well composed image! I like your frame! Well done!
Michel

I love this old staircase, the lines, colors and textures are gorgeous. Good POV for the pink stucco is a nice BG to the staircase. Lucky you to have stayed there. The shoot seems to have lost a little from scanning (?) and doesn't look as crisp as I'd like to see a shot like this. The light was good for showing off the details you captured. TFS

Maybe the composition is too much squeezed but I love those colors..

Hi Karen,
I like this simple shot. I like the colour of the walls and the natural wood. Nice.
Cheers,
Debbie

There is a simplicity to the shot in terms of the beautiful pastel and earth colors, but a complexity in the staircase and the color of the wood. It is also seems like an "active" shot to me as the eyes follow the staircase up and down. I like the composition, emphasizing the vertical. It does seem a bit "fuzzy" in some areas, but I don't know if any sharpening would add to the photo or not. I enjoyed your photo.

Nice composition. Right choice for frame. Very nice colors. Funny effect, though, that makes as if the stairs are rotating - accomplished by scrolling up or down.

Hi Karen,
Great composition! I love all the different textures and the pale stucco walls are lovely. TFS Cheers Tina :-)

Hi Karen,

I've been looking at this image a few times now and I can't think of anything negative to say about it. It's just a lovely old staircase and the image clearly shows it's age.
You just did a fine job here.
I was wondering if you could have stepped just a bit back to get all of the staircase on it. It seems that there's just a little bit missing both on top and on the bottom.
But... I'm not complaining! I love this!

Cheers,
Anneke

Hi Karen,
Great head-on view of the curved stairwell. The simplicity of the image is very attractive.
Best wishes,
Celina

Stunning stairway. I love the combination of metal and wood. Great colour effect on the wall. Great capture.

Interesting subject with good framing but lack of sharpness and contrast; I think here works better sepia or b&w.

Hi Karen: I really like the colour and light in this photo, focus is spot on and My eye is led up and down the stairs which I like .... Nice work Karen ........... thanks for sharing .......Roman

Hello Karen, Simple and beautiful. Sharp and nicely composed shot. TFS

Nice geometries. TFS. K2

Superbe photo!
C'est le contraste des couleurs et surtout la perspective qui a attiré mon attention.
Joli travail, votre photo est des plus réussie.
