[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I visited Taos Pueblo many years ago and for this shot used my Stereo Realist and color slide film. This is a scan from a slide. Actually, because of the deep shade much of the details are lost in the shadow areas and I would normally pass on this shot. But since I wasn't sure I would travel through the area again i took the shot. Any shot with great contrast is a tough call to balance. Either you lose the highlights or the shadows. Balancing both flattens the shot and flash was out of the question here. The film too plays a role. some films seem to have more lattitude. Kodachrome 25 in particular has been a favorite for many over the years because of this. Nevertheless, you may find the shot interesting.

Taos Pueblo in Northern New Mexico is said to be an ancient community and continuously inhabited for a thousand years. All the buildings are made of Adobe and the walls are several feet thick. The village is a National Historic Landmark and was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.There are about 150 people living in the Pueblo all the time with nearly 2,000 Taos indians and their families living in homes near their fields.

Hi Richard,
Nice shot. Geez...it seems like you already critiqued yourself. So, what's left other than to say.
Welcome to TL!
