Whitewater Canyon, New Mexico
Spring Break, 1976
After a long drive, a long hike, dinner, and an evening relaxing by the campfire, Susan in the morning light.
A shorter story behind this photo. As I mention in my Intro, I had an accident years ago that involved a coma and the longterm consequence of that is a constant battle with memory and forgetting (all these years later). Photography is, for me, an ally in that effort, and the stories around each photo are my way of remembering my own past.
I only recently rediscovered this set of photos, and had forgotten completely about this time in life. I have only remnants of a memory here. Looking at the photo now I am reminded that we were part of a group of close friends, in our early 20's. Inseparable. I was encantado with Susan who was remarkably charismatic and photogenic. As college passed, we fell apart. I've not seen her, or our other friends in thirty years, except here, now, in kodacolor.

About this photo: This was shot on Kodacolor 100. The neg was scanned in with a Nikon coolscan 5000, with very little post processing.
As always, workshops welcome should you have ideas on improving this print.
