Socorro, New Mexico
April 2009
A bright spring afternoon in Socorro, a small town in central New Mexico. It was a strange day. A crazy lady was driving around town honking continuously, winding through the streets while every cop and sheriff Socorro could muster was weaving through the streets trying to find her. (How do you *not find* someone driving around honking?)
This older lady was oblivious to the excitement, and just quietly waited for her Mom to come out from the Capitol Bar. I love the happy (but a bit blank) stare she has. I have a spot in my heart for older folks.

This is the first contemporary shot I've posted on TL. It was using my new Canon DSLR.
As always, workshops welcome should you have ideas on improving this print.

Nice title...the poor chap had to wait. :-)
Hi Karl
I saw your note in the Forums and I have posted a workshop for you.
I don't know what you were trying to do here - brighten it?? It is very over coloured and quite unnatural.
In my workshop all I concentrated on was to bring out the shadows and highlights of the scene. Check it out and see if it is of any help to you.
Cheers
Janice
Hi Karl
Came out of retirement for this after reading the forums. So after checking out your image (like the mood) I tried a workshop from your original shot. Right away I thought of B&W or sepia, went in between with a toned down sepia. I think it works well and takes all the color issues away to give a more ambiance and impact to the image. I believe this adds to the mood you were looking for when you originaly took the shot. Did not even have to clone out the sprite bottle. All post processing was done with "Photoscape" available free. Now going back to retirement...
