This photo was taken in Newport, Oregon in Old Town on the Yaquina Bay. On this day there were two old ships docked in the bayfront offering rides to those who wanted to experience the old time ships. What was really interesting is the crew of the two old ships volunteer to work on these ships for two weeks at a time. I would love to do this!
I took this photo in color and in black and white and liked the b/w for its affect. This day was very gray and drizzly lending itself to the b/w composition. I like most the pov....the ships were so huge and the mast was enormous!
Take care,

Great capture Bettina. The b&w certainly brings out the grand features of the ship. Well done and thanks for sharing this beauty.

Very nicely captured, Bettina. I like your b&w version which works very well here to give the old age to this sailboat. Nice use of the light behind the clouds and of all of the lines of the mast. Well done!
Bonjour Bettina Marie
Good B&W shot of the mast and the rigging. A few years ago many tall ships came up the St.Laurence to Montréal and some went up to Toronto. They are very impressive and elegant. A different way of life when these navigated the oceans.
