New Years Day and I am on the Coast of Oregon in Newport, Oregon. My family and I were at the Yaquina Head Lighthouse and just below is, at low tide, a wonderful area that is is full of tide pools with an abundance of tidal life. You can also see a colony of sea lions lounging around on the rocks. This particular photo is that of Red Sea Urchins. It was difficult to get this photo due to the fact that they were under water and I was not about to get wet....Oregon is to cold to go swimming in the Pacific on January 1st! I don't think I have ever seen so many Sea Urchins in one place....I also heard that these sea creatures are a delicacy in other lands. I don't know how you would eat them?????....to me it would be like trying to eat a cactus....but then....I would think they were to pretty to consume other than with my eyes..
Take care!
