Here is my color, and this rose too is from Rose Show at Portland Rose garden;
I decided to have my frame open all the way (f/2.4) in my lens so as to get all the details;
This lower apertures setting also gave me a reasonably good DOF (Since lower F Stop increases the depth of field)
And to avoid the grains, I went to a lower ISO rating (ISO80)
I kept a reasonable faster shutter speed (1/125s) to avoid any shake/blur.
I included the buds since that would give a good perspective to this rose :)
Now it is up to you to give this capture a verdict!

Hi David
The color of the rose is so sharp. Love the buds just waiting to bloom.

Hi David
A very good shot of this Rose and I agree the buds do give it perspective. The background is good that it has gone well out of focus with your aperture open to f/2.4. The blurred highlights do distract slightly. The Rose is a superb colour and has good sharp detail. Well done.

That's another beauty! Have you tried to spray water on one of these roses? You may achieve some interesting results.

Hi David,
The verdict: excellent work. Nice shallow dof and good, sharp main subject. I like your notes too. As usual, very informative. TFS.

David,
I see I've missed quite a few of your beautiful flowers. I'm going to have to go back through them. I love the color purple on this and the unopened buds. Nice presentation.
