Hi TrekLens Friends:
As you might have noticed (at least some of you) that I am back into 'Rose Series'. I will be presenting each of these roses with a few things similar and yet with various PP works.

The 'Rose of the Setting Sun', is from Portland Rose Garden (Oregon). This was captured at late evening as I was about to leave. This one got my attention because of its unique way of bloom. If you notice that I have captured it with ISO 100 so as to avoid grains. Of course here it is with very low resolution, but the original capture is very sharp (that I had to use Smart Blur filter). I hand held it at 1/60 sec. handheld.
The PP work is done in 4 layers. I worked on the original ( 1st) layer to my satisfaction and then made 1 more copies of the same layer (2nd . Now I used magnetic lasso to carefully select the petals only and then made one more layer with ctrl+C (copy) and ctrl+V (paste) and made a 3rd layer.  It gave me a transparent layer with the petals only. Now on the layer behind the petal-only layer, I used a square Marquee tool to create a perfect square (holding shift key down while dragging), and then copy and paste as before for my 4th and final layer. On this layer, in the layer pallet and double clicked and and in the pallet style dialog box I selected 'Stroke' and chose a color. Now in the layer underneath this layer, I chose darkness 100% in saturation dialog (ctrl+U). Finally when satisfied I flattened all layers and ran it through: Filters/Render/Light Effects. Do let me know if you can follow this clearly, and if not I will re-write it. Thanks for Trekking with me here. David

I really like it.

David,
You do beautiful work. I love the layers you created. Your instructions sound complicated initially, but taken one step at a time, I think definitely worth a try to attempt it. The result is amazing. I've learned a lot from your instructions and I'm grateful for the detail you provide. I love the light in the center and darkening out. Dramatic effect. Well done. :)

Hi David,
very nicely done, I like the lighting with the middle being the lightist part and than fading out towards the edges. Colors and sharpness are gorgeous and your framing complements the photo very well.

Hi, David.

This is fantastic - a perfect picture so well enhanced in post-processing using layers. The lighting is superb - it has an iridescent quality to it. Perfection!

I think I follow your PP notes - if you don't mind, I'll copy that into my files for future reference!

Wonderful!

Best Wishes,

John.
