This picture means a lot to me. It was taken from a 52' wood yacht (that's right, wood ... fiberglass does not a good boat make).
While cruising around Lake Union during a beautiful evening, I saw this sailboat slowly meandering around in the water. It just happened to pass directly between my camera and the sun, which added a lot of interesting lighting effects to the photo (back lighting on the boat and the sails, sparkles and contrast in the water, a dark strip of shadowed land in the background, etc.).
Looking at the picture makes me feel relaxed, and makes me miss Seattle!
Post processing includes: cropping, rotating 2 degrees CCW (hey, it's hard to take a straight a level picture while you're bobbing around in the water!), color desaturation, contrast increase, brightness decrease, unsharp mask, and shadows/highlights adjustments. |

Really relaxing!
Nice shot! You got very good results and lighting considering the sun facing you. Well done
Hi Brian,
Nice black and white. Its nice when people take pictures that actually mean something to them. It always makes for a better photo. And it did for you here as well. Great job!

Hi Brian,
This is a beautiful peaceful image. Those sailors look like they are in no hurry to get back on shore.
This picture tells me they, and you had an enjoyable day.
Very well done,
Peter.
Hi Brian,
Nice capture, the b&w works very well. Well done,
Fara
