| Waterfront Seattle and this guy is sitting on all he has in the world. A sad sight. He was at that same place each day we saw him and the sad fact is that we did not trust him when he asked us if he would like him to take our photo together. We imagined he would run off with our cameras. Then I saw the walking stick..I felt rather sad at myself that I would think along these lines... :( |

A very interesting social observation Sue.
I think its sad that theres homelessness at all. There is more than enough to go around, but some people have to have more than they need.
I spent a lot of time with homeless people when I was a punk in the 70's and 80's and I came to feel that they were often more honest and compassionate than a lot of wealthy people.
I can't help thinking of 'The Fisher King' with Robin Williams ... have you seen it ?
Hello Sue
"Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose".
There are a lot of people who cannot (or choose not to) cope with the demands of modern life. I know that you feel guilty for your distrust, but at least you chose to engage him on some level. The homeless are invisible to many if not most people.
I posted a workshop to expand on that thought somewhat.

Greg

Hi Sue
That is part of daily life.. I'm sure most of us would have declined the offer!
Another mind opening shot! Makes us stop and think how very lucky we are...
Thanks for sharing this

Hi Sue,
I appreciate the candid remarks you made regarding the situation mentioned here. The picture tells a story. Kind of a sad one at that. On the other hand it makes me think of a scripture that says that a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions. Thanks for sharing!
God's best,
Tim
