Constructed for the 1962 World's Fair in Seattle, the Space Needle stands 605 feet tall (184 m). Its observation deck is 520 feet high (152 m), offering a spectacular view of downtown Seattle, Elliott Bay, the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, Mt. Rainier and Mt. Baker.
Built to withstand wind speeds of 150 mph, the tower was also constructed to withstand earthquakes. A 30 foot deep (10 m) and 120 foot across (40 m) hole was dug for the foundation and filled with concrete and reinforcing steel. The foundation weighs 6000 tons, almost as much as the tower itself, making the center of gravity of the entire structure only 5 feet above ground (1.5 m).

Levels adjusted, slight perspective adjustment to correct keystoning (could have done more, but the tower became too distorted), sharpened. |

hi bob!
this reminds me of the 'tripods' from the movie 'war of the worlds'...
i love how you have framed it and how well saturated the colors are :) it'd look great in b/w too, with a dark, almost black sky with the contrasting white tower...
thanks for sharing this one :)
