| Seattle’s new 11-story library, with a glass and steel skin of odd-angled pop-outs and crayon-colored, interior walls and escalators, is a bold and crowing achievement for a city of avid readers. Designed by famous Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, this unpredictable building changes shape with every level, skewing sideways abruptly to take advantage of downtown views. Yet, inside, the dance of form and function makes remarkable sense. |
