| My sister and nieces went for a hike up towards Table Mountain (one of the highest mountains in the Columbia River Gorge @ about 4500 ft. elevation). We came across quite a number of old "snags" as they are referred to locally. Snags are basically dead trees. This dead tree, like many others in this forest showed significant evidence that bears had been looking for insects to eat in the dead rotting trees. It did make us a bit nervous that we might run across a bear during our hike, but we never did see any. |

I did not know that there were bears in freedom in the US, it is really surprising!

I love the photo. It is a view that humans don't usually get the chance to experience. I would have been concerned abuot the bear too.
