[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Photographic inspiration often comes when you least expect it. I found this caterpillar in a bag of parsley that I bought. Since I cannot bring myself to harm any one of mother nature's creatures, I figured I could at least photograph it. I put the 'pillar on top of a rose that I had bought for my lady. It took quite a few shots to get the right one because I wanted to make sure I got the caterpillar's face, and it was not easy with the manual focus lens, and the insect's rapid movement. The blue background is actually a large blue stool chair, beautifully blurred out by the bokeh from my old, but superb Olympus 90mm Zuiko macro lens. The resized image does not show the same color fidelity or anywhere near as much detail as I have on my raw file, but that only matters in a large print, not a web presentation. I did this for my lady, so yes, I had to bump up the cheese...hey, that's love ain't it? :-)

This looks almost graphic with vibrant colours and shapes. Nice photo opportunity created when you spot an caterpillar. If I found it I would have just thrown it and left it at that :P

Colors work so well together, and your model surely knew how to be photogenic. I wish the insect were completely in focus though, but it is just me. Overall, it is a very effective and beautiful image. TFS.

This young butterfly (?) is just screaming out "Stop this Rose. I want to get off!"
Good thinking/concept. Quick thinking, too. I like how you juggled the DOF to get both the centre of the rose and the business end of the grub in focus. patience or just good fortune? Nah - skill.
You are doing the right thing at many levels here. good quality shots. Working the system with other members. All to your benefit. I look forward to more from your imagination, as you throw in something very different every time. A pleasure.

The colors are just incredible. I love low light colors. Not real bright, but so very rich. Nice capture.. in a few ways ;) Nice gesture Sam and a beautiful photograph.

Hi Sam, My first appeal is the color it have, then i found the inetersting part is the dept. The focusing area is superb, that give an impact of the main subject between caterpillar & Roses. Love the title as well my friend! Cheers you have make it right!

This is an amazing capture!
Great details in both subjects, but the combination is most unusual...
Maybe it is a reminder the check the flowers before you give them away since I know a couple of guys who would not appreciate a gift like this!
