Looking upward along the trunk of a huge pine tree that Hurricane Ivan had literally twisted and broken midway up the tree. This is a good example of the force of the wind that hit us at the campground in Greenville. And how a mighty pine tree can become as a tiny toothpick and be twisted like a pretzel. I think, in some "twisted" way, there is beauty in this shot. It almost became an action shot as a few minutes after I snapped this photo, it came crashing to the ground where I had been standing. I am a great admirer of Mother Nature.... even in the midst of Her greastest fury....

Light over-exposure with the back, on the other hand which clearness of the branch.
By hoping that all goes for best...

The surest means of fighting against the great catastrophes, is to request!
In nature, all always has a reason. If you include/understand this reason, you need more the experiment.

and than imagine trees are the strongest creatures on this planet, almoust nothing can destroy them, it's amazing how some can get over 200 years old.but then there are even stronger forces who make trees disipear like they are toys...

nice shot you got here,i like the colours and the sky in the back, it looks so peacefull now..
good shot!

What a great shot and how well it illustrates the fury of Mother Nature unleashed. Those of us who have never experienced such forces can never fully understand. You are most fortunate to have escaped unharmed and with minimal property damage.

I like the details of the cracked tree, Kathleen. Good PP, the overexposed background is not disturbing. Nice hues on the branch. TFS.

I am really thankful you are ok. Nature can indeed be frightening.

Great sharpness and color, your shot is very clear. It's amazing the destructive power of Ivan.

The devastation must be heartbreaking. A great picture, colour and composition are good. Thank you for taking this time to share with us the fury of Ivan.

Great colors and details. Nice shot!
