This is a picture taken in the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, California. This Conservatory was recently reopened after being closed for a number of years. The building is a large greenhouse with climate control for plants and flowers of all kinds. It has 16,800 window panes within a grid of 100 arches crafted from redwood and Douglas fir. The building contains over 1,500 species of plants native to many countries throughout the world. It is the oldest wood and glass, Victorian-style conservatory in North America.
This water lilly was in a pool within the buliding-the light was good, the reflection interesting. I took it with a low F setting and used my telephoto lens to get in close. This building and park are a must see if you get to San Francisco. Hope you enjoy |
