Iris

Iris in a country garden,
Politely said, "I beg your pardon,
But I'm from sunny France you see,
And my real name is Fleur-de-Lis."

Anon...not me for a change!!!

There are many species of Iris, widely distributed throughout the north temperate zone. The most commonly found garden iris is the bearded variety, sometimes referred to as German Iris. Various wild forms and naturally occurring hybrids of Iris pallida and I. variegata form the basis of most all modern hybrid bearded iris. Median forms of bearded iris, miniature tall bearded are derived from crosses between tall and dwarf varieties. Other iris types commonly found in garden are I. siberica and its hybrids (Siberian irises) and I. ensata and its hybrids (Japanese irises).

Since I am learning to take macros and not doing such a hot job of it...I treated this photo with a filter. Hot Wax

Framed
And braved the critiques with this one!!! The original is in the workshop...have fun trying to fix it, it's beyond hope!!!

Thanks for stopping by Fran

Had you not mentioned that you considered this a write off, I wouldn't have guessed. I take it you had sharpness probems with the shot? Anyway, this happens to me a lot too. The shot as you envisioned it does not come exactly as you wished. However, I appreciate the fact that you enhanced the image inspite of that and made it better. Thats the kind of attitude that sometimes produces gems. Have a nice day !

fran,
you did a great jod post processing with the original photo. nice color scheme and texture.
good work.
what happened to the act? let's get the show on the road.

Allo Fran
Is this a painting of yours? Another hidden talent? Very good PP on this one, I like the effect you created. I can't help you with your macro without more info (you may need a tripod,etc.. there could be a lot of reasons why, I'l get back to you, friends coming this afternoon) Did a workshop with your original. Hope to see your next act soon. À bientôt
Paul

This is a case where the filter made a silk purse out of a sow's ear, Fran! Not to say that the original was a sow's ear...but, you know what I mean. :)

I really like the effect. Irises are among my favorites, and they're not blooming up here yet. Nice save!
Gayle :)

Hello Fran, keep on doing macros, it doesn't take long to make good ones. Maybe the only thing was that you moved a bit or the dof was not large so the focus was off.

Anyway, you did well to brave the crits and turn this photo as art form with the filter. You saved this one. Very well done my friend!

Take care. Yan :)

We all have to start somewhere Fran and I admire you for loading this one for critiques. Excellent PP work. TFS and hugssssss
David

Fran, pretty Iris, and not too bad for a first one!
I never use my zoom on my Sony camera for a flower shot like this. I set it for macro, and them hold the camera very steadily over the flower, maybe 6 inches apart. And when I click the button I keep holding it steady for another second afterwards. I often found I was moving the camera too quickly and getting it blurred. Go out and practice and practice. You will be pleased with the results.
Go girl!
Janice

I love iris and I love what this filter has done to improve the original photo. You chose well and the result is beautiful. The origina photo is definiely not beyond hope. And this one is a shining star in the gallery.

I did a workshop, but can't post today will be back tomorrow, thank you for the invitation!

About macro lenses, mine will only let me use the zoom function to a limited extent. I have better luck with focus by getting close to the object, rather than trying to zoom in on it. I'm still learning, too.
Regards,
Lois

Well I love the final result Fran !

It really looks like one of these works Martine Motheris doing ( small dots ??? ). Takes ages to do. I am amazed by this very neat work. Well done.

Good luck with you new toy !!!!
Cheers!

Hi Fran,

A beautiful result you have achieved here of the wonderful Iris flower. "Fluer-de-Lis", wasn't that in the Top Twenty recently...hehehe, actually my wife plays a rendition of Fluer-de-Lis on the piano beautifully. Well done.

nice work on shot!
Great composition, colours and details!
:) tomorrow
Thanks Ana:)

Hi Fran,
I must say that this work is very nice. Looks like water-colour painting. And you did a very good job on the origina which doesn't look at all like a base for such a wonderful picture. tfs

Marek

I like this one, it's softness adds to the visual concept the artist perceived later.

Very well saved, many smiles.
