Prairie Rainstorm

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I came across this little abandoned farmstead along a U.S. Forest Service prairie trail, enroute to the 'back door' of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. It was a windy, stormy day, and we had to improvise a shortcut to the Achenbach trail through all of it. Once we got to the park gates, the terrain changes to deep-cut sedimentary ridges and buttes, leaving the endless expanse of the prairie behind.
I wanted to get closer than this, but it was behind a wire gate with a 'No Tresspassing' sign, and we were moving with a sunset deadline for reaching camp. The nearest city is Grassy Butte, which didn't come up on Google maps, but I can't exactly blame them. It's more of an RV hookup / old post office museum than a functoning township.
This is the only way to see America's national parks...

very nice picture, very moody. I love days like this, I want to just sit and watch the storm. good composition. thanks for sharing
nice perspective and depth of field in this shot...obeying a 'no tresspassing' sign for once...must have been some deadline...ha...we need to take a trip to one of these places sometime...good luck on finals coming up...peace***
one of the things that i love about the US, even though i've never been there (judging by photos i have seen) is its wild weather, storms and beautiful cloud formations. excellent job. the only negative point that i can say about it, is its size, a bit too small.
