Osprey in Flight
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Today I went down to the Osprey nest to take some shots. The male flew around on & off the nest several times but the female never left the nest. I assume she has eggs by now since they returned about a month ago to nest. Just a block away is another nest I just discovered built on a railway bridge. The birds by that nest though are much more shy than this pair nesting on top of a nesting platform.
Scientific name: Pandion haliaetus
Size: 21-24 1/2 in. long; wingspread 54-72 in
One of the most widely distributed birds in the world.
They do not breed until they are 3 years old.
Weight Males 2 lbs. 10 oz. to 3 lbs. 8 1/2 oz.;
Weight Females 2 lbs. 12 oz. to 4 lbs. 3 3/4 oz.
Flight Speed: 20 - 80 m.p.h. |

Hi Julie Welcome to TL. Very nice shot. Sharness is good.:)

Besides the pair I mentioned in the TN post, there is also the ones on the snag in the mill pond just outside of Stevenson, on the little island. I love the diagonal way you've shown this one, very wonderful details and sharpness.
