Taken on a borrowed camera from the observation deck of the John Hancock Building in Chicago. Coming from Christchurch NZ, I was suitably impressed by the city I saw.

Not always easy to find a photograph that conveys that wide-eyed wonder of a tourist in a new city for the first time, but I think this one comes close.

Impressive view Rew, it really is, but I'd rather be in Christchurh than in Chicago, no offence intended for people from Chicago though ;) .. very good for a scanned photo...

Lucky tourists mate! :D Great view. Very good quality for a scan. Thanks 4 sharing.

hi rew,
i was about to throw you off the building... but i saw the date (1993!) i was amazed. exceptionally sharp and the color of the scene is kinda.. starsky and hutch or knots landing type (80's i think). great pov and details as well. tfs.
jeff

Amazing POV. I can see the mist on top of the photo. You took it from a plane? Very nice one. TFS.

Kiran.

splendide prise de vue , impressionante. Bravo

jojo

This is a great shot. there is a lot of movement as the lines compete for attention. Seems a little grainy, but maybe it was just hazey? Anyway, a great shot and a great city! TFS.

Wow, great shot, doesn't look the way I imagined Illinois at all!

Hi Rew, Excellent POV and perspective for this dramatic composition. The colours came out well. Looks like it could be tricky crossing that road to get to the beach. TFS. Murray.

Hi Rew,
Great View and nice shot,
Wonderful tones. marvelous composition
Well Done,
Deniz.

Hey Rew!!!!
When I was there I experienced the wide-eye wonder of the amazed turist that you mention in your note! Great shot of a great city!! It is a shame that the shot looks a bit pixelated...

Oh my gosh, you are brave, I went to school trip just last week with my son's class to Sky Tower. Man my knee never stop shaking.... nor saying to take nice photos like this one... well done Rew.... I like the composition and the colours, espcially the road that look like a long snake. Thanks for sharing. :)

Hi Rew,

Beautiful detail, interesting

Hi Rew
This is a nice picture i like it a lot, a bit high for me. well done. John.

Hi Rew,
Looks like a scanned photo or the smog of that day wad pretty bad. Anyway, I like the POV and the depth. The road is taking me straight to the end but tall building keep stopping me in seach for the little details.
TFS,
Niek

I love the geometric contrast between the man made and the natural (ie. wavy sand vs. 90 degree buildings) Thanks

Bonjour Rew
Thanks for this impressive view showing lakefront, downtown Chicago, on a clear day.
The brownish overall hue adds photographic nostalgia of times gone by.
Wonderful!

On dirait une carte postale!!! Très belle photo.

Bonjour.
Toujours aussi belle la vue de là haut...
Bravo pour avoir réussir à ne pas avoir de reflet de vitre...
J'ai été impressionné par le nombre de piscine sur les toits des buildings....

Wow... I can see why you were impressed. Good quality scan. Thanks!

Wow... what a point of view. This makes the whole of East London (my town) look like one block in your town. It looks stunning. Thanx for the photo.

1993! i was 3yrs old then! This picture makes me feel like i'm flying, good thing i'm not afraid of heights. This picture is absolutely beautiful!!
(Looks like someone's got a pool on top of their building, that’s cool)

Hi Rew, familiar scene for me (I do have this picture, but not digital) . Lovely capture of Lake Michigan beach. :) Vandana

Hi Rew

I like the lines of roads going vertically, it visually strengthens the impact. Keep going!

Hi Rew,
WOW !!! incredible view !!! really impressive !!!
Formidable POV on the city and the beach.
I shall not have liked being on your place !!!
Great shot.
Congratulations,
Stephane.

Hello Rew. The coastline and the coastal road make good perspective splitting the ocean and the skyscrapers of the Al-Capone's backyard. Stunning view captured from a borrowed camera. The vertical format works well here and thanks for sharing. Jusni

Excellent photo taken here Rew! when I was a flight attendant, I was based in Chicago (brrrrrr COLD and WINDY):-) and this was indeed the building where everyone enjoyed the view. You captured the skyline and waterfront beautifully. Probably one the the Best shots of this I've seen. :-) tfs p.s. what a fun city! I did enjoy being there (on a temporary basis) hehehehe
I hope to visit your country in the near future.

It is an eye full..... I was born in this city! I lived there ony 8 years...... I hear it is still good food!
