The sky was absolutely gorgeous yesterday morning. As I was trying to capture the sunrise, I saw these two jet streams in the sky. I can only imagine how beautiful the sunrise must be to these pilots.

This made me think of a famous quote from the pilot John Gillespie Magee, Jr. (you can read his amazing story here). His poem is called "High Flight".

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air. . . .

Up, up the long, delirious burning blue I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or ever eagle flew — And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Stephen, this is one of the most beautiful sunrise shots here on TL. I like your composition with the trees immediately next to the rising sun. I don't care about these planes, but the cloud textures are magnificent. TFS, TFS².

Very strong composition in this image.

I'm impressed with the clarity in the clouds near the tree.
