[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On our way back from a shopping trip in Great Falls we noticed that there was a large storm front in development above the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Later that evening more storm fronts developed causing to disturb the air too much and eventually killing each cell. We ended up with a really dark sky and some amazing colors inbetween the clouds and the ground. At first the sun was blocked by the cloud formation, but then for only 20 minutes the sun reappeared. It gave everything a kind of golden glow. That is what you see in this photo Soon after the sun set behind the foothills and gave us this beautiful sunset.

Tech talk: Shot in RAW converted to JPEG and added a bit of contrast and sharpness. The colors and lighting are real and as I remember them.

What a beauty! The sky is just amazing. Truly an eye candy! TFS

Whoa! Now there is some bright color! Just a thought and I'm not sure how to explain it because it is just a feeling. To me because the top of the sky is so dark and there is a full third of the bottom of the frame in clipped black, it FEELS like the sky is being squished up against the frame. Did I tell you about the article I read by the professional sky photographer? He said if the subject of the picture is the sky, then give it the lion's share of space...leave only a sliver of ground to act as a foundation for the image. I tried it out and I think it does make the sky FEEL more expansive. See what you think.

Very nice sunset. I love the cloud texture towards the top of the photo. Very nice clean horizon and silhouette. The break in the horizon on the left works very well. TFS.

Fantastic shot! Well noticed, right moment, right composition (the 'high' horizon makes it exciting). Wonderful colours indeed!
I think a larger black frame would express these colours even more. But that's my personal taste!
