[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I came across this photo earlier this afternoon, when I was cleaning up my hard drive. It is another flood shot from this spring, when the Red River again rose above its banks and threatened the communities of Grand Forks and East Grand Forks.

It seemed like this tree was reaching, extending its 'hands' upwards towards anyone that could help it before the river swallowed it whole.

But, this tree is still standing, despite being flooded over every spring since it was just a sapling - however many years ago that would be.

No doubt this tree stood just like this in 1997, while the city around it burned and the water drove everyone away from their homes.

I converted it to black and white in PS CS2, resized it, and threw in a 20 pix black frame.

Enjoy; and remember that no matter how bad it gets, the water always subsides. Struggles are temporary, but the strength gained from them lasts forever.
