I've been shooting a lot of film lately, getting back to my roots. Processing, and scanning is a lot slower, but the joy can be immense when you get some decent shots back. This image was taken in available, window light using one of my oldest cameras, the Contax T. The Contax T is a manual focus rangefinder, the predecessor to the popular T2, and T3 autofocus cameras. The film was Kodak's BW400CN, a C-41 color film that's designed for easy processing as black & white. The image came out pretty close to the way it is here, and I increased the black levels to darken the background. I also experimented a bit with the channel mixer, not sure what I did. Film is definitely slower, but still a joy to work with.

hello Sam.
Oh, I understand you so well!
I have just finished my second film role ever:), and can't wait to seee the results.Unfortunately, I don't know how to process it myself:), and it's colour film anyway.

This is a superb portrait. The lighting is excellent.
see....for gear addicted...you sure prove to be emotionally attached to the old way!!!
can't wait to see more of your works on film.

Hi Sam, beautiful and very sad image. Here it is difficult to get the BW400CN processed, it takes about a week to get them processed at the lab!

Having just started photography lessons, analog b/w, I must say I fell in love with film and the developing of film and discovering the magic of the dark room.

Sad look but wonderful image dear Sam !

So good to see you again, Sam, as it has been a while - I hope everything is well with you. Very superb portrait and very excellent use of the ambient light and the white curtain is very nicely included. Nice expression on her face; she seems to be waiting for someone...Well done!

Hello Sam,
A very good portrait with strong emotional qualities!
And I like to hear how you're seeking back to the roots, also as it makes me understand why you don't post so often, hehehehehe!
Personally I will NEVER go back to the dark room, not even for nostalgic reasons... But I still have my old Magnifax!
Greetings,
Pablo -
