This will be my last photo for my traveloque...for now, since I might take a look back later. This photo was shot after a long search for some ghosttowns in Montana. Non of them were listed on our map, but with the help of the maps we found posted in the rural areas we did have a feeling of direction. In the end we found a few small signs leading us up a steep hill with unpaved roads, if you could call it a road. Sorry, Budget for bringing back the car with so many strange noises and scratches. The gosthown we visited wasn't even worth the visit. It wasn't as nice as Garnett and it was hot and there were just too many bugs. So we made a shot visit and I got back with only one good photo. But the trip was fun!

I like the shapes and shadows here, Niek. The lighting really accentuates those, too. So I like those aspects of the shot. But the pinkish color is rather putrid on my monitor! Maybe it would look better in B&W!

You have treated us to some very nice pictures from your trip, Niek. 49 of them (actually, maybe you ought to publish one more to make a round number!!!) is quite a good selection and it truly made us travel with you.

This is a very interesting picture, quite abstract in its composition but showing some very good details but I think it might be a little oversharpened or maybe it was the harsh light you had that day. Otherwise, nice choice of DOF and good way to present this ghosttown. Well done!

P.S. We also had a few adventures trying to locate a few ghost towns in Wyoming so I can relate to your story...

Interesting shot, Niek. My dad lives in that state. It's difficult to find places like ghost towns if you don't live there because after a few years, you get to know things that are around, off the beaten track (of tourists). There are some in Oregon up in the Cascade Mountains. I hiked to an old one one time and it is by a lake called Diamond Lake which at one time was a mining area. In Arizona, there is a famous one (not ghost, though, as a few people live there) and it's called Jerome. I suppose it would be best to call it an old mining town. There is also a small town called Oatman (pop. 300) that has a lot of abandoned mining equipment/sites and such. I might suggest some OFF! or Cutters in the summer for bugs, they can be horrendous if water is around.

Hello Niek very intersting note, the picture I cannot say much I don't understand much of mines but I give you credit and good to know about the fun on a trip ;-)

inpact, niek..i like it! colours and shapes...fascinating to look at . TFS Meagan

Hello Niek.
Very nice point of view, great texture capture.
Well done and TFS.

I really like this one Niek. You do have a good eye for this type of shot...and that lens and camera serve you well. Great sharpness, good range of values, good color saturation and effective composition.

Glad you enjoyed your hot, dusty, buggy, bumpy trip. We've driven so many roads like that, that I'm surprised we still have our teeth! At least you had fun and got a great photo out of it too.

Hi Niek

Good repetition of the circular shapes. This reminds me of Ponsavan in Laos, the most heavily bombed country on the planet, during the Vietnam War.

Hello Niek,
I like this organized disorder!
The colours are very eye-catching, so are the shapes...
Well framed subject, presented in a pleasant composition!
Greetings,
Pablo -

interesting subject Niek,
Texture and detail are well captured.
Best regards, Daniel.

PS: Green smiley later ;-)
