fireworks on the fourth of July

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This summer I experimented by photographing our local 4th of July fireworks show. It was a lot of fun and I came out with a variety of results. I liked this one because of the "feathers" of light left by the explosion. With my Olympus OM1 it was a real gamble deciding how long to hold the shutter open.
Your suggestions and comments are always welcome. Thank you. |

Hello Jill,
I think that you did a good choice because the effect is really nice. What I like most here is this beautiful composition. This is well done and well seen! Thanks,
Claudine
beautiful pov here, great closeup, like a white coconut tree:)
Hi Jill...
Seeing your fireworks pictures reminds me of the great time I had photographing the big 4th fireworks display at Tempe Town Lake a year earlier than yours were taken:
Tempe Town Lake Fireworks
The only trick to fireworks photography is:
1-Point your camera where the fireworks WILL be.
2-Take tripod mounted timed exposures long enough to capture the fireworks but short enough to keep the sky nice and black.
3-If you have a zoom lens experiment with many different zoom values and compositions to get a good variety if shots.
That is about all you really need to know. It helps to take a set of test images before the fireworks starts to zero in on the right exposure values.
