[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
These two beautiful birds (IMO) showed up and there were only two of them. They sang beautifuly and wouldn't get more than a few feet away from each other. I do not know what they are called. If anyone does, please let me know. I hope you find them as beautiful as I do.

This was shot on a tripod in late afternoon between Cabrillo Beach and Sunken City.

Photoshop:
Cropped, Autoleveled, sharpened and framed.

Regards,
Skye

Great capture, good contrast and simply good picture!

I don't know what they are, but they sure are beautiful and apparently a pair from what you say. I have not seen any like this on our beaches. Great catch and tfs.... they look a little like Sandpipers, but wrong color...may be in same family.....:O)

I don't know what they are but they're beautiful. Their long beaks look like they might be used for picking food out of the rocks or sand, good luck finding out what they are.

Beautiful capture which greatly benefits from low angle sunlight here. The shallow DOF emphasizes the birds' shapes and blue water nicely contrasts their unusual colours. Not sure about the tight crop though, probably including more of water at top and right would make this shot look even better.

And about the birds kind: these two are American Black Oystercatchers (Haematopus bachmani). You can read about them here: http://audubon2.org/webapp/watchlist/viewSpecies.jsp?id=36

wonderful blurred up background, the focus on both objects are perfect...they are beautiful...but i have no idea what species they are...another good one from you Skye, well done!
