Interesting shot Hugh, the man holding his head down seems to be an interesting contrast to the apparent message of the poster above, with the young girl looking up, and the standing woman at the right. I just wish there was a way to reduce the brightness of the light and reflection of it on the metal above, then select the poster ad and brighten it, add a bit of contrast to it to make it pop out. The tilt is a little distracting but perhaps it adds to the photo in that it shows movement and a bit of claustrophobia in the subway car (contrasting with the openness and freedom of the girl in the ad). Perhaps I am reading too much into it, haha. Good idea though, TFS!
P.S.: and if you read the ad, what is it with this idea that children are dirty and full of "germs" (as if adults are not)?!

Well let's not pretend that this is a happy photo, that guy obviously doesn't feel blessed to be living in America, and there is the true poignance of your note.
It could be argued that anybody born into the richest nation on Earth already has wings, in terms of circumstance at least. I guess this guy hasn't learned to fly.
Touching shot my friend.

Amazing shot! Great find and capture. Reflect perfectly the claustrophobia of subway car and much more than that.

Hi Hugh,
A rather anguishing picture : the seated man is far from spreading his wings, rolled as he his upon himsself!
I don't think either the subway is the appropriate place to express one's exploration of the world...
It condemns to indifference, silence, stillness...
