I found a room of crosses, of every shape, size and denomination, in this antique store. *** Posted the wrong photo, with a crooked title...dang it.... the right one is in WS! Sorry...........

Almost 2,000 years ago, a Jewish carpenter was condemned as a dangerous religious and political rebel. He was executed in one of the most painful and shameful punishments then available: flogging and crucifixion. This form of death was a scandal to both Jews and gentiles. Nevertheless, Jesus' followers made a point of remembering his death--not just the fact that he died, but also that he died in such a shameful way. In their written stories about Jesus, they devoted lengthy sections to his horrible death. They set aside one day each year as the anniversary of his death.
Why is Jesus' death so important to Christians--and so central to the Christian faith? You must decide for yourself.

A story for you: You cannot pay your electric bill. It costs too much. I tell you that I will pay it for you. Which is true?

1. I call the electric company and tell them to cancel your bill. That you don’t need to pay for it and it costs me nothing.

2. I reach into my wallet, take out my hard earned money, and pay for it and it costs me dearly.

The second line is TRUE. This is what I believe that God did with the cross. This is my belief. So don’t be mad at what I believe.

Look at my life and decide for yourself if it is true! Look at my pics and tell me that this broken, sick woman did this on her own! After all, God is a gentleman, he does not go where he is not asked to go!

A whole room in this antique store was devoted to Icons, Statues and Crucifixs. It was strange to see a life sized Jesus hanging before me. A very quite but beautiful place! I wear a cross, not because the thing has powers, it’s just made of silver! If I throw it away, nothing will happen. Much in the same way I wear a wedding ring. The ring does NOT make me married….it’s just a reminder of my relationship with my husband. The cross is a reminder of my relationship with God, who paid the price, so I don’t have to. Have a wonderful day!
B-)
Linda

Hi Linda

I don't even know when Easter is this year & will have to google it. Good colour, sharpness & lighting, & well captured religious symbolism. Tfs!

Linda, how big was this store?!?:) Looks good Linda, very colorful, nice lighting and top notch focus. As with all the photos in this series, very busy but looks nice. Here, the main subject stands out well in all the clutter of the store. Nicely taken Linda and enjoyed the notes. TFS Lyndon

Hi Linda,
I see we both into the religious mood today ;-). A lot of wondeful relics to choose from, the store has a great selection. Very well captured, POV, sharpness and colors are great.

Hi Linda,
Compared both postings and I can't say the 'crooked' title is very disturbing, although I know if you know it as artist is can be very annoying (you must remember my Signs/Sings posting ;) Anyhow I like the mood in this picture, very recognisable. I do respect your belief and I will never ever discuss this. With all respect I like this artistic impression, not discussing the philosophy behind it.

Hi Linda
I think that the suffering and death of Christ must remember us that pain is there, but our pains are worthwhile if we do a good thing with them and we feel that God may be proud of our endurance in our love for the others.
For a Christian the death of Christ is an important thing to consider, but it's more important His resurrection and His glory. That means that our pains will have a recompense if we love as He did.
Thank you very much for the reflection and for the beautiful picture. I like it.
My compliments and TFS.

Hi Linda...I'm certainly moved by your notes here more so than the picture...nothing wrong with the picture, very colorful, good focus and quite an illustration, but your notes make quite a statement about your life and I admire you for that and to express it here. Good job and blessings on you.

Lee

It has been captured with vivid details. Good work indeed with fine framing and composition.
Achim

Hi Linda,
With Easter quickly approaching, images like this will be more prevalent than at any other time of the year...and you've captured a great scene. Excellent detail you've captured with fantastic lighting. This store looks like a place I could spend hours in.
Excellent series. Cheers, Todd

Re WS: minor detail, I had to look twice....
Great shot, very busy, but within the context, it shows just how crammed these places are with treasures. Great pov, and good centering of the main subject. Seen similar shops in townships in Oregon around Multnomah Falls area.
Cheers
Otto

A very well detailed and colorful religious room. A great pov in both the pic and in the note, religions mean different things to different paople.. TFS
Christan

As you suggest in your write up,the cross is a symbol of the love described in Cor 13. Cor 12 talks about Christians being given gifts for the benefit of those in the body. Matt 5 talks about letting your light so shine that people see your good works and praise your father in heaven. I have been looking through your portfolio and beleieve that you use your gift as your faith suggests.
Excellent work. Keep it up.
Warm regards David
