This weekend was an adventure for us; we were braving the wilds and visiting the northwestern part of Louisiana to visit our son who is in college up there!

We set out very early with our pet Teddy buckled in his car seat. The skies were cloudy and heavy rains were predicted but our adventure had started. We have never been to Shreveport and were excited to see new sights along the way. During our journey of 5 hours we came across many signs…some were of interest while others baffled us.

Our first encounter was with the “Pet Potty” sign. It offered something for all discriminating dogs to find their own comfort zone. Teddy was thoroughly interested in all that was offered and circled each fire hydrant in turn making full use of each one. As you can see the skies were dull and threatening.

We reloaded the car and set out again. Next we came upon the exit sign for of all things, Whiskey Bay, shall we stop? (I guess we should not, driving while intoxicated is frowned on here.) And we have only 3 more hours of drive time ahead of us.

We finally reach Shreveport and of all signs to see an exit sign for Traffic Street, we will definitely avoid taking that exit!

We are looking for the Airline Drive exit but before we could find it we found a street named after our family! What a nice surprise!!!
We didn’t stop to visit but carried on and Good Lord!!! Where do we go next???

There are welcome signs, adventurous signs and confusing signs and the right signs; I challenge you show us some of your favorite signs?

Have great day photo hunting!
Fran

Tech talk…
All of the photos were taking in the speeding car, except for the Pet Potty shot. I used the EXIF from the other shots. They were also taken in various parts of the state but our destination was Shreveport.
Edited all the photos separately:
1. Cropped all
2. Cloning out unwelcome posts and lights
3. Noise reduction tool
4. Color fade for the dreary skies
5. Sharpened
6. Added text
7. Framed
8. Posted

That’s all folks! Thanks for stopping by!

well done on your montage..

Cheers
Dawn.

Hi Fran, that large image is similar to some I see here, most confusing to a newcomer and no wonder tourists get lost. A lovely combo and excellent PP work in retrieving some colour to the skies. 400 miles, 5 hours? What on earth is the speed limit? TFS,
David

Hi Fran,
great collage, I like the subject matter. Signs can get a bid confusing specially when there lined up like in the larger photo.
Very nice composition on the collage, great photos.

Rob

wow! fran,
what are you doing?trying to confuse us with all these signs!
thumbnail looks more interesting here.good story. i have few of them too but no photos. good work.

Hey sign, sign everywhere a sign, reminds me of a song called Signs

And the sign said long haired freaky people need not apply
So I tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why
He said you look like a fine upstanding young man, I think you'll do
So I took off my hat I said imagine that, huh, me working for you

woah!

Chorus:

Sign Sign everywhere a sign
Blocking out the scenery breaking my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign

And the sign said anybody caught trespassing would be shot on sight
So I jumped on the fence and yelled at the house, Hey! what gives you the right
To put up a fence to keep me out or to keep mother nature in
If God was here, he'd tell you to your face, man you're some kinda sinner

Repeat Chorus:

Bridge:

Now, hey you Mister! can't you read, you got to have a shirt and tie to get a seat
You can't even watch, no you can't eat, you ain't suppose to be here
Sign said you got to have a membership card to get inside Uh!

And the sign said everybody welcome, come in, kneel down and pray
But when they passed around the plate at the end of it all,
I didn't have a penny to pay, so I got me a pen and a paper and I made up my own little sign
I said thank you Lord for thinking about me, I'm alive and doing fine

Repeat Chorus
Repeat Chorus
