Crystal jelly (Aequorea victoria).

They are near transparent but so pretty when a little light hits them.

These jellies have long, delicate tentacles. When disturbed, they give off a green-blue glow because of more than 100 tiny, light-producing organs surrounding its outer bell. They can expand their mouths when feeding to swallow jellies half their size. They’re harvested for their luminescent aequorin, used in neurological and biological experiments to detect calcium.

Scientists have created “green mice” that glow green when hit by blue light by inserting the GFP gene from the crystal jelly into the mice. The glowing protein is a widely used biological highlighter that helps scientists find and study genes more quickly.

Shot at Monterey Aquarium.

workshop, critique, advice , comments, good/bad, whatever, its all very welcome.

Bonjour Colin,
very interresting. we rarely see under water shots. Must be pretty hard... but very impressive to look at. A bit noisy, probably because a lack of light, but it it's better to see it anyway. Good note too. Congratulations!

Hi Colin,

REally beautiful and crystal clear jellyfish there. Nice work.
But I will try out a WS on this to improve it. :D Please take a look.

TFS,
Hong
