Taking a break from the Brazilian theme to celebrate the Day of the Rose. Today, in Catluyna, is the Day of the Rose, also known as the Day of the Book and the Rose, or more properly, El Día de Sant Jordi (Saint George's Day). On this day, a Catalan man is supposed to give his beloved a rose and a Catalan woman gives a book to hers. That's tradition. In the modern era, books and roses flow both ways.
For the next few days I am posting some photos from the Día de San Jordi celebrations in Barcelona a couple of years ago on my TrekEarth site.
These roses are actually ones I gave to my mother for America's Day of the Rose, Valentine's Day. She liked them so much, I photographed them for her. |

Pretty photo! pleasant composition and texture, excellent shot. happy day of the rose! Carme.
This is certainly not your usual subject but you have presented this beautifully. Subdued light and soft tones in a very nicely managed shot. Nice saturation.
Well done

Seeing it without knowing who took it, I would never say it's a "bombilla" picture. Very nicely done.
hi Hugh,
I like the darkness ,it's a mysterious mood!
The song of Nick Cave "where the wild roses grow" came to my mind when i saw this photo.
