[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Walking along looking for the elusive shark teeth, supposedly plentiful in this part of the state, I more easily spied this bright bug along the debris that had washed up on the beach. Any help in identifying this character is appreciated.

PP work--just a crop to the ratio of 1 x 1.618; framing, resizing and sharpening for posting.

I've seen the same or similar bug on ponds, but no idea what it is.
Like the composition in this photo, not only does the little creature catch your attention but the other items as well.
Nicely done close up, sharp detail, DOF serves this very well.

Awesome capture - beautiful looking insect. Great sharpness, detail, low point of view, composition and perspective. I really like the colours and use of light and shadow. Nice framing too.

He's a nice, bright, shiny bug Karen. Good colours and details.
And did you find any shark's teeth?
Janice

I just love those bugs. They are so shiny and metallic and colorful, they almost look like they're from outer space. Excellent the way you managed the composition and the focus, with the bug at the bottom right corner, other subjects all around to lead the eye around, and the focus right on the main subject with a nice shallow depth of field that makes the bug pop out even more. Wonderful use of natural lighting, I can practically see every single grain of sand that's in-focus. Just amazing. Great metering and contrasts, rich tonalities, and the subject matter is quite unique, especially among the sand and shells. Sorry I don't know what type of bug this is, although I remember seeing them on the beach in Ocean City and I just loved them. TFS!

Hi Karen,
Excellent macro of this nice colourful bug! Well spoptted and perfectly captured, particular the 'debris' and the sand makes it an interesting picture. Wel done and TFS!

Hola Karen,
precioso insecto y bello pov,
colores y detalles excelentes,
saludos

Hi Karen, sorry I can't help you identify the bug...but I can say this is a nice macro. The shallow DOF is expected in macros and looks very attractive. The bug is placed perfectly in the frame for a pleasing composition and the area of focus is top notch...very clear..showing all the texturs of the wood and sand. Very pleasant colors, and you made good use of the strong lighting. Very nice shooting Karen!

Lyndon

Beautiful macro shot. Excellent sharpness, DOF and details.
I think it's called "Bluyus Buguius". But I don't know the common name, sorry.

Hi Karen. Good very clear and well coloured close up of this insect on the beach debris. Beautiful details visible including each grain of sand. TFS. Murray.

Good shot of this six-spoted green tiger beetle. Strange name for his color, but not his preditory nature! I see you were able to capture some of the spots on his back.
